Operation Encompass
At Billing Brook, keeping children safe and supported is at the heart of everything we do. We are part of Operation Encompass, a scheme that helps schools provide support for children who may have experienced domestic abuse at home.
If the police attend an incident of domestic abuse where a child is involved or present, they may share information with the school's safeguarding team before the next school day. This means we can be ready to provide any extra care, understanding or support a child that may need it, when they come into school. Only trained safeguarding staff receive this information, and it is treated sensitively and confidentially.
We understand that children can be affected by what happens at home, even if they do not directly see or hear everything. By being part of Operation Encompass, we can help ensure that children feel safe, supported and ready to learn.
If you would like to find out more about Operation Encompass or discuss any concerns about your child, please contact our Designated Safeguarding Leads.

Our commitment
As a special School, we recognise that some children may need additional support to understand, communicate or cope with difficult experiences. We work closely with families and other professionals to make sure every child receives the care and support they need to thrive.
Together, we can help ensure every child feels safe, valued and supported.
