Billing Brook School

Safeguarding

Safeguarding Statement

Billing Brook School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and expects all staff, volunteers and visitors on site to share this commitment.

We are all fully committed to ensuring that our approach to safeguarding practices are connective, this means that staff are trained annually and those with greater individual responsibility for leading are trained as Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL). All concerns regarding welfare and safeguarding are passed through members of staff to their line managers and/or the DSL, in compliance with the most recent local and national guidance.

  • The Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is Jodie Harrison, Senior Family Support Worker
  •  Mrs Kennedy, Miss Lantsbery, Mrs Holland, Mr Thompson, Mrs Cordery, Mrs Farrier and Mrs Chapman are also trained as DSLs.

If as parents, carers or visitors to the school you have any concerns about your child or any other pupils at the school, a DSL can be contacted on 01604 773910. Please tell the receptionist you have a safeguarding concern.

Policy in practice

Staff are asked to report any cause for concern to a designated safeguarding lead. Concerns are reported as early as possible and information recorded.

Talk PANTS helps children understand that their body belongs to them, and they should tell someone they trust if anything makes them feel upset or worried.

To help you start the conversation with your child we are attaching a link to the parent guide here.

There is also a guide for children which is available here.
