Our successful and expanding Sixth Form have vacancies for teaching assistants who are passionate advocates for inclusion and independence.
Billing Brook Sixth Form is a special sixth form, not just because our students have learning difficulties; but because it truly is a special place to work. Our whole purpose is to provide relevant and meaningful knowledge, skills and experience for our young people; To help them be as prepared for a life that is as independent as possible and filled with meaningful and purposeful activity.
In this pursuit, our preparation for adulthood drive is to guide our students to:
- Be Healthy
- Be Independent
- Be Prepared for Employment (paid and/or voluntary)
- Be Involved with Friends, Family and Community.
We are looking for individuals who are passionate about enabling our young people (and the wider community) to see beyond their ‘limitations’ and while previous experience would be beneficial, it is not essential. Applications are welcome from candidates who have:
- Good interpersonal skills in relating to children and young people.
- An understanding of and interest in young people with special needs.
- Experience or knowledge of people with autism.
- A good basic education which includes GCSE grade C in English and Maths (or equivalent)
The school is committed to developing staff and has a career progression route for teaching assistants. It may be necessary for successful applicants to undertake further training, which may occasionally take place during school closure times. We are pleased to receive applications from both experienced and non-experienced candidates and the posts may suit graduates who want SEND experience before embarking on a teaching career.
This post is subject to an Enhanced DBS clearance check as well as a satisfactory medical assessment and 2 satisfactory references from previous employers.
The positions are for 33.5 hours per week for 39 weeks of the year.
Salary Range Grade E point 4 £19,264 (pro rata) £14,917 (Actual)
